Newcastle United full back Jamal Lewis admits he was a little taken aback by the club's interest.
Lewis had resigned himself to spending the season with Norwich City in the Championship.
But the 22-year-old instead learned Newcastle wanted to sign him, and the transfer went through in a matter of days.
Lewis said the following after signing: "It was a little bit unexpected but it was something that I was obviously looking forward to when I heard that there was serious interest, so I'm delighted to be here now.
"Newcastle's such a great club with such history and I knew it was an opportunity I would love to take with both hands."
