Liverpool legend John Aldridge hailed the performance of Fabinho for victory at Chelsea on Sunday.
Writing for the Liverpool Echo, Aldridge declared: "I said on Twitter before the game we would know after the game whether Jurgen still needed to go out and buy a centre-half and I think Fabinho answered all those questions.
"I'm sure Joe Gomez and Joel Matip will still have a big role to play this season but the manager now knows he has got a top class option there as his potential fourth choice centre back so I don't see any need to go back into the transfer market now.
"As long as Fabinho is happy filling in there from time to time, it's not a problem and who knows what it might lead to in the future?
"It was a great test for him yesterday up against someone of the quality of Timo Werner and he came through with flying colours so that's a real boost for the manager going forward."
