Newcastle United's move for Arsenal defender Rob Holding has stalled.
The Toon have been in talks to take Holding on a season-long loan.
The Evening Chronicle says a loan deal for Arsenal's Holding has not progressed in the early part of the week and may not go through until Newcastle's squad is trimmed down.
Holding is ready to go at Arsenal after the Gunners signed Brazilian defender Gabriel from Lille yesterday but United had not kicked on to sign the 24-year-old target at the close of play on Tuesday night.
Newcastle do retain an interest in Holding but a move will be dependant on how manager Steve Bruce shuffles his pack in the next couple of weeks.
