Joan Laporta is standing for the Barcelona presidential election.
Radio Catalunya's Què T'hi Jugues reports Laporta is to stand for election, which if he wins would mean a return to the presidency. Laporta previously was president of Barca between 2003 and 2010.
Laporta joins Víctor Font, Lluís Fernández Alá and Jordi Farré in officially committing to the elections in March 2021.
The announcement of Laporta's candidacy arrives in the middle of a signature count to try to get a vote of no confidence against the Board chaired by Josep Maria Bartomeu. For the moment, the numbers aren't close to the necessary amount to force the spill.
Upon Lionel Messi announcing he was withdrawing his transfer demand last week, Laporta stated: "Magnificent Leo. A wise decision, very well explained. And now to continue fighting to win again and continue making history. Today Messi has given us once more joy to Barcelona."
