Brighton manager Graham Potter believes his side more than matched Chelsea in their clash at the AMEX on Monday.

Albion went down 3-1 but were far from disgraced against a club who have spent over 200m on transfers this summer.

"The performance was good in many aspects, we more than matched Chelsea for long periods. I'm disappointed with the opening goal, but errors can happen," Potter told Sky Sports.

"We were heavily punished with a wonder strike and ultimately if you concede three times it's hard to win football matches.

"You have moments against the big teams that you need to have go your way and we need to learn from that. But there are positives.

"Adam Lallana was enjoying the game, he brings that personality, we are pleased with what he has brought to us and we just have to help him get on the field more often."
