Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is full of pride after his landmark goal in victory at Levante.

With his strike in Real Madrid's 2-0 victory over Levante, the Frenchman has reached 250 goals as a Los Blancos player.

However, as he explained a striker should contribute more to his team's game, providing his teammates with assists and opening up spaces for them to exploit.

"I feel very happy and very proud of my goals," Benzema told Real Madrid's official website.

"[I'm] also [proud] of the play [we produce] at this moment at the club, because for me it is an honour and I will work to continue scoring goals.

"People see football differently and there are many who only pay attention on the goals, but there are more things like the movement or the passes.

"I am a forward who can score goals too."

Benzema has become the fifth top scorer in Real Madrid's history behind Cristiano Ronaldo (451 goals), Raul Gonzalez (323), Alfredo Di Stefano (308) and Carlos Santillana (290).

This is his 12th season at Los Blancos with whom he has already played as many as 517 games, having won 19 titles.
