Manchester City defender Eric Garcia has a contract in place with Barcelona.
With his deal at City to expire in June, Garcia could sign a pre-contract with Barca on January 1 and move back home for nothing in June.
ESPN says Barca are willing to cough up a fee in January to sign Garcia, though City will have to dramatically reduce their current €25m valuation.
Garcia has made it clear he wishes to return to his former club and was left out of City's Champions League squad this week.
City manager Pep Guardiola has accepted there's no persuading Garcia to change his mind and commit to a new deal.
