KOTA BHARU: PAS stresses that all the 18 Member of Parliament (MP) of the party maintain their support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the Prime Minister to lead the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.PAS secretary general Takiyuddin Hassan (pic), in a statement, said PAS was not impacted by the rhetorics of Parti Keadilan Rakyat president and opposition chief Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim who claimed that he received the support of the majority of the MPs to take over the reigns of government. “PAS regards the issue raised by the same individual as a desperate action driven by personal interest and ambition to take advantage of the situation when the PN government is tackling Covid-19 as well as taking measures to restore the national economy.

“In this matter, PAS is very confident the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah will not entertain the action of this desperado, on the other hand, His Majesty will handle the matter based on the provisions and laws under the national constitution. “PAS also hopes the government will take strict legal action against any party that cause anxiety and confusion among the people, as well as causing damage to the country’s economic sector as a result of the action,’’ he said. Meanwhile, Besut Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, who is also Felda chairman, Sunday, lodged a report at the district police headquarters (IPD) here to state his stand that he is not supporting Anwar to be Prime Minister, as alleged. When met outside the Putrajaya IPD, Idris said making a police report was the best way for him to state his stand and stop his name from being linked to Anwar.

“I have never been contacted (by Anwar) and have never given my support (to Anwar) but said to be supporting him. I don’t understand. I had already issued a media statement before this, refuting that I supported Anwar, but this was ignored,” he said. Idris described the allegation that he was supporting Anwar as an act of desperation. In a statement, Idris said that on Oct 6, he was informed by an officer that his name was mentioned on a website via an article titled, ‘Gempar!!! Senarai 121 ahli Parlimen Sokong Anwar Tular’. Idris said he then found himself named as one of the 121 Members of Parliament (MP) said to be supporting the proposed appointment of the Port Dickson MP (Anwar) as the ninth Prime Minister. Putrajaya district police chief, ACP Mohd Fadzil Ali, when contacted, confirmed having received the report. On Sept 23, Anwar had at a news conference, claimed having received strong and convincing support from several MPs to take over the country’s leadership. Recently, Anwar was also reported to have said that Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah had consented to grant him an audience on Oct 13.
