Kuala Lumpur: MR D.I.Y. Group (M) Bhd (MR D.I.Y.) dispatched 9,000 sets of personal protective equipment (PPE) and 20,000 face masks worth RM480,000 to Sabah, Thursday.

In a statement, the home improvement retailer said that it stepped up its humanitarian aid to frontliners, first-responders and vulnerable groups in Sabah because the Covid-19 situation is worsening there.

MR D.I.Y. said it plans to distribute the equipment to affected areas including four key Covid-19 hospitals, six government clinics and other government facilities in the Semporna, Lahad Datu, Tawau and Kunak districts.

The relief supplies follow Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah’s description of the situation in Sabah as a “crisis” because of the exponential daily rise in cases.

MR D.I.Y. chief executive officer, Adrian Ong, said the third wave has hit Sabah especially hard and that the company is concerned for the frontliners’ and Sabah people’s immediate access to supplies.

“Our direct relationship with manufacturers and nationwide logistics network makes it possible for us to mobilise these supplies quickly to get them to those who need them the most.
