PETALING JAYA: Police said they will call Anwar Ibrahim in for questioning over a list of 121 MPs claimed to be supporting his bid for the prime minister’s post. “Anwar Ibrahim has been asked to provide details at 11am on Oct 12 (today). However, his private secretary said he is only able to be present at 9am on Oct 13,” said Federal CID director Huzir Mohamed in a statement. “We will postpone the appointment to a date that will be announced in the future.”

Huzir said an investigation was opened under Section 509 (b) of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 after a police report was lodged by the Jerantut MP (Ahmad Nazlan Idris) on Saturday. He said police had received six reports regarding the list since then and were investigating the claims which had gone viral.

He advised the public to remain calm and added that police would not hesitate to act against those who spread fake news
