West Ham United failed with a huge loan offer for Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori, it has been revealed.
West Ham reportedly agreed to pay Chelsea a five-figure sum for every game that Tomori missed before the defender performed a late U-turn over the loan move on transfer deadline day.
According to talkSPORT's Jim White, West Ham were even prepared to pay Chelsea £50,000 every time he wasn't selected to play under Moyes.
“I'm no mouthpiece for these guys this morning, but this I know to be fact," White said.
“They went after (Duje) Caleta-Car at Marseille. They bid £20million and were prepared to pay £3million to the agent and the player. But the player didn't want to go.
“Then they struck a deal with Chelsea, including a huge loan fee, for Fikayo Tomori.
“They had also agreed to pay Chelsea £50,000 every time he wasn't selected to play for West Ham, on top of that.
“That was all done and two minutes to eleven Tomori said: 'I'm staying, I don't want to go'. The timing was wrong but they tried."
