Ben Godfrey is delighted to have already made his Everton debut.

Godfrey played for over an hour at Goodison and impressed at full-back against defending champions Liverpool and, specifically, Sadio Mane.

"I was ready, you're on the bench for a reason and that is to come on if anyone needs to leave the pitch," he said.

"I was ready, I was excited. There's no bigger occasion to make your debut for Everton really. I couldn't wait to get out there, although right back is a bit of a different position I've played for the last few years. I wanted to try help the boys.

"It is a bit of a foreign position but I just wanted to do what I could for the boys. As you mentioned, Mane for them and it is a tough task and I enjoyed every second of it."
