Manchester United have offered trials to Dundee United defender Kerr Smith.
The Courier says United could scupper Aston Villa's chances of landing Smith.
Smith, 15, spent a period on trial at Villa recently having impressed scouts from a number of Premier League clubs.
The United youngster was set to put pen to paper on terms with Dean Smith's side.
He returned north of the border and has now spent a week in training with United.
Smith is able to sign his first professional contract when he turns 16 in December and is also being chased by Everton following his spells on trial at Villa and United.
