Everton are set to wait until January to hold talks about a contract extension with director of football Marcel Brands.

The 58-year-old signed a three year deal when he arrived, and it expires in the summer.

Everton have a policy of waiting until the New Year to discuss the contracts of senior executives that are close to expiry.

According to the Liverpool Echo, they will continue that policy with Brands.

Everton are happy with the job Brands has done, even though they have moved away from his usual transfer policy to pursue targets manager Carlo Ancelotti prioritised.

It remains to be seen whether both parties want to continue the relationship, as Brands may also fancy a new challenge.
