PETALING JAYA: Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah says almost 70% of recent Covid-19 infections in Selangor have nothing to do with individuals who had returned from Sabah.

In a Facebook post, Noor Hisham said there are currently 18 active clusters in Selangor, of which only eight were linked to people who recently returned from Sabah.

“69.2% are clusters from local infections. This means that 69.2% of infections in Selangor have no relation to those who returned from Sabah. The Covid-19 virus is already in our surrounding community.

“Six new clusters since Oct 11 were local infections. Nine are closely related with workplace infections while one was a mall cluster,” he said.

The health ministry reported 862 Covid-19 cases and three more deaths yesterday, with Selangor reporting 132 infections.
