Total lockdown on Tawau Prison, staff quarters ends Oct 25: Minister

Kota Kinabalu: The government has decided to end a total lockdown order on Tawau Prison and its staff quarters at Taman Ehsan on Oct 25 as scheduled, said Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The first order was made for the period Sept 11-Sept 25 before it was extended until Oct 25.

“As of Oct 21, the Ministry of Health carried out 1,250 tests at Tawau Prison and 1,196 at the staff quarters at Taman Ehsan. To date, no active cases were recorded at Tawau Prison while two were found at the quarters and are now receiving treatment,” said Ismail in a press release.

“However, the locality is still subject to an All-Sabah Conditional Movement Control Order,” he said.
