7 deaths, 546 new cases, 1 new cluster sparked by nikah ceremony

Kota Kinabalu: Sabah on Wednesday recorded seven Covid-19 deaths, 546 new cases and a new cluster sparked by a nikah or Muslim marriage ceremony, said state spokesman for the crisis Datuk Masidi Manjun.

Four men and three women aged between 35 and 73 died at hospitals in Kota Kinabalu (four deaths), Sandakan (two) and Tuaran (one), data from the Ministry of Health showed.

Sabah’s new cases consisted of 89 in clusters including the new one, called Seri Gaya, 271 close contacts and 186 other screening cases.

The ministry said 11 new cases and a total of 17 were found in the Seri Gaya cluster in Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran, with 47 people found negative out of a total of 64 individuals tested as at 12pm on Wednesday.
