AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli insists he had little say in their pursuit of Chelsea midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko.

Bakayoko, despite having a past loan spell with Milan, ended up at Napoli on deadline day in a temporary deal and made his debut in their victory over Atalanta.

Asked about the midfielder, Pioli stated: "I have faith in the four central midfielders I have. I have never dealt with the economic aspect (of transfers)."

Milan are currently top of the table after the first four games of the season.

Pioli added: "We think we belong in our current place."
