Now is not the time to hold elections: Lam Thye

Kuala Lumpur: Chairman of the Alliance for Safe Community Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pic) said with Covid-19 cases rising in the country it is certainly not the time to hold elections.

There is talk of an impending snap general election in the later part of this year.

I hope this is nothing more than speculation because the spike in the number of Covid-19 cases is a cause for grave concern.

The increase, he said, is not confined to Malaysia but is a worldwide phenomenon and is expected to peak over the next three months with the onset of winter season.

The war to combat the virus is now very real.
