Edouard Mendy was 'sad' after losing to Tottenham Hotspur in his Chelsea debut.

The Senegalese was unable to prevent Spurs from winning on penalties in the EFL Cup fourth-round clash.

Nonetheless, the 28-year-old said he felt honoured to play for the Blues.

Reacting to his debut on his Instagram page, Mendy said: "Sad about Tuesday's score, but honoured to have played my first game for Chelsea. Let's keep working."
