PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has wanted to make Arsene Wenger sporting director over the past year.

Wenger stepped away from the game after leaving the Arsenal manager's job two years ago.

Al-Khelaifi has long wanted to hire the Frenchman for PSG and RMC says the pair discussed Wenger taking the sporting director's post.

It was a position that interested Wenger, but he eventually declined over concerns his profile would create problems for the head coach.

Wenger is now working for FIFA on their rules committee.
