Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insists their 7-2 humiliation at Aston Villa can work in their favour.

The Reds meet Everton on Saturday.

"In some respects I like it more than losing 3-2 because it's just more clear," Klopp told talkSPORT.

"We could have lost that night 3-2, then we go home and the boys go to their national teams, and we do the analysing, and that's it pretty much.

"But this is more useful."

The vast majority of Klopp's players have been away on international duty this week, and the German says that will have helped clear their heads.

"For me it was very important that the boys don't carry it around all the time, because they all had three games to play," he said.

"Intense games, important games for the country, and you cannot do that with one half of your brain back in Liverpool, so I wanted them to focus on that. But I wrote all the things I thought about the game and then we really can finish it for the moment.

"They played the last games on Wednesday, arrive here very tired on Thursday, so we'll try to help them with recovery.

"We have one session on Friday and then we play flying Everton, so that's it. We cannot change that and we don't want to change it.

"It's another challenge."
