Napoli chief Cristiano Giuntoli insists they offered Arek Milik a new contract.
Milik has been omitted from Napoli's first team squad for the first-half of the season.
Giuntoli said, "We have an approach, we used our brains and will emerge from this period with focus.
“There are quite a few great stars at Napoli, including Koulibaly, Lorenzo Insigne, Piotr Zielinski, so we've built up a really valuable group of players.
“We offered Milik a renewal several times, he never wanted to sign and always pushed to leave, so naturally we had to look elsewhere. It wasn't a financial decision, it was a personal one for him."
