Kota Kinabalu: There is glaringly lack of transparency and effective communication between the government and people as well as in coordination between the Health Ministry, State Health Department and local hospitals in dealing with Covid-19 pandemic, according to Community Empowerment Initiative (CEI) Sabah.

It said for days on end there was a vacuum as to who was to be Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson to communicate with the people information, tailored guidance, critical considerations and practical checklists to adhere to. In this context, it welcomed the appointment of Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun for this role.

“Many doctors and medical workers raised the alarm of the critical situation in our hospitals in social media out of concern for the people although some may have been worried to step on the toes of higher authorities.
