Kota Kinabalu: A Filipino holding a Temporary Resident identity card (MyKAS) was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here, Wednesday, with trafficking 69.72gm of syabu.

Unemployed Kiflon, 23, who appeared before Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles, was accused of committing the offence at 8.30am on Oct 15 this year at the roadside in front of the Inanam night market in Inanam.

However, no plea was recorded from Kiflon after the charge was read out to him.

The charge, under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, carries a punishment of either the death penalty or life in prison and whipping with a minimum of 15 strokes.

The prosecution applied for a new mention date pending the chemist’s report.

Kiflon was ordered to be further remanded as the charge against him has no provision for bail.

He was not represented.
