Manchester United weighed up signing Emerson Palmieri if their deal for Alex Telles fell through.
Telles eventually joined United from Porto on deadline day in a deal worth £15.4million.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was desperate for a left-back and would have turned to other targets if Telles didn't sign.
According to Fabrizio Romano on the Here We Go podcast, Chelsea outcast Emerson was an option for Solskjaer.
The Italy international was also linked with Inter Milan, but he has remained at Stamford Bridge.
