Chelsea boss Frank Lampard insists he has no grudge against Liverpool counterpart Jurgen Klopp.

While the pair have been at loggerheads on a number of occasions, Lampard has insisted he will always be respectful.

“I'm definitely not here to ruffle feathers. I've got respect for all the managers that I come up against and I think that sometimes, the competitive nature on the sidelines is what it is," he told BT Sport.

“It's hard when people after the game ask why you reacted like that, why did you say that because some things are said and they are part of that pantomime acting part on the line.

“I think we're all respectful of each other's jobs, we have all got tough jobs and we're all competitive, that's why we're in this job.

“I'll always stand my ground and try to be respectful.

"That's why you shake hands afterwards, I shook hands very happily with Jurgen Klopp when they beat us at Stamford Bridge, I have huge respect for him and the team that he has built there.

“But I'll always stand my ground. I'm not just defending myself here, I'm defending Chelsea, we're working hard to try to do something right and there's a lot said, if you feel like you have to stand your ground, then you do it."
