Burnley midfielder Ashley Westwood admits Chelsea were too good for their 3-0 win on Saturday.

Westwood admitted the Clarets came up short in their performance against Chelsea in a defeat that sent Burnley to the bottom of the Premier League.

“It was a difficult day," admitted Westwood after the big-spending Blues had extended their unbeaten away record to climb into the top four.

“We started all right and had a big chance for Barnsey, who unfortunately didn't quite put it away, but they're a top side and we were a bit off it today, which isn't like us.

“We were happy with the way we performed against Tottenham and I think we came off it a bit today.

“It's difficult against a top side like that. They're up there for a reason. They made six changes and you wouldn't say they were weakened.

“They have the quality to hurt you and stretched us all over the pitch and credit to them. They deserved the win.

“That's the difficulty of the Premier League and we need to re-group and go again."
