Govt loses billion$ due to water woes

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government suffered billions of ringgit of losses due to water supply-related problems, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin.

“Many companies or states that sell water gain profit from it. But in Sabah, we incurred losses for decades – about RM300 million per year, imagine how many billions in decades?” he said when responding to a supplementary question from Elopura Assemblyman Kevin Chong Kiet Kiun, at the State Legislative Assembly sitting, here, Monday.

“That is why I sat down with the State Water Director to discuss how to make a turnover… in business, we must gain profits.
