Turtle eggs: Arrest warrant extended

Kota Kinabalu: The Sessions Court extended the warrant of arrest against a 52-year-old IMM13 holder charged with having 57 Green turtle eggs without a permit.

Judge Elsie Primus fixed Dec 8 to review arrest warrant against Arman Amri who still could not be located.

On Sept 2, this year, the court ordered the case to be further proceed event though the warrant of arrest against him had not been executed.

Initially Arman was allowed bail at RM15,000 and the RM10,000 had been paid.

Arman is accused of having the Green turtle eggs (Chelonia Mydas) which is protected and listed in the Division 1 Schedule 1 of the Wildlife Preservation Enactment 1997, without any permit.

He allegedly had the turtle eggs at 4pm on July 9, 2019 at the Crafts Market, here.

The offence, under Section 41(1) of the Wildlife Conservation Enactment 1997, provides for a fine of between RM50,000, and RM250,000 or a jail term of between a year and five years, or both, on conviction.

In another case, the court also fixed on the same day for mention the case involving a 50-year-old man charged with committing sexual abuse against an 11-year-old girl.

The date was set for Matsah Dandi to fix a new trial date in view of Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) implemented in the State since Oct 8 this year.

Matsah allegedly forced the girl to touch his private part at 9am on Sept 30, 2019 in Kudat.

Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court with taking syabu.

However, no plea was taken from Alexzenrie Mulalang who was brought before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun.

The court was told that the chemist’s report on the drug is still not ready yet and that the prosecution asked for another mention date.

Alexzenrie is accused of taking the drug at 9pm on Nov 5 this year in the city.

His case would be re-mentioned on Dec 17 and the court allowed him bail of RM1,000 in a local surety.
