Manchester City made a sensational bid for Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku last summer, it has been revealed.
Just a year after Manchester United sold the Belgian to Inter, City made an attempt to bring him back to England.
Corriere dello Sport says City were prepared to go as high as €80m for Lukaku before the start of this season.
However, talks never reached the point where a bid was tabled, with Inter showing no interest in losing the centre-forward.
Since leaving United, Lukaku has thrived at Inter under coach Antonio Conte.
