SANDAKAN: Marine Police here foiled an attempt to smuggle cigarettes worth almost RM100,000 in a “Special Ops Landai” operation at Sungai Luboh on Monday. Commanding Officer of the Sandakan Region 4 Marine Police Force, DSP Rusdin Bin Banin, said there was a pursuit when Marine Police approached a boat and introduced themselves to the skipper who then fled the scene around 8pm. He said the skipper accelerated the boat to a shallow area and jumped towards a mangrove swamp.
