Bulk of new Sabah cases from prison clusters

Kota Kinabalu: 214 out of 616 positive Covid-19 cases registered in the State Saturday are from the prison clusters, said Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun. 

 “(They are from the) Tawau Temporary Detention Center Cluster, Sandakan Prison Cluster and Kepayan Prison Cluster. The remaining 402 cases are from other categories,” he said in a statement, Saturday. 

 Masidi said a new cluster had been identified in Lahad Datu, namely the Softwood cluster, with 14 new cases. 109 individuals in this cluster have been screened with 95 awaiting results.

The State recorded three new deaths in Kota Kinabalu (2) and Kudat (1),  involving two females and one male aged between 51 and 62. All three had underlying health conditions.  Masidi said a total of 780 Covid-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital.
