Chelsea manager Frank Lampard admits it was difficult to drop Jorginho from penalty-taker duties.
The Italy midfielder missed a penalty in last week's win over Krasnodar.
Timo Werner was given the responsibility twice against Rennes on Wednesday and converted both times to help Chelsea claim a 3-0 victory.
"It was not an easy decision (on penalty taker) because Jorginho has been pretty faultless," Lampard said.
"He had missed two recently and Timo came in and scored. I had a word with Jorghino and his answer was perfect, he said he didn't mind who came in to take them he just wanted to score. Timo came in and scored so I am happy."
