Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB) consumers can now be notified of power disruptions via Short Messaging System (SMS) on their mobile phones. Its Senior General Manager (Asset Management) Ir. Norhizami Abu Hasan said SESB’s effort to disseminate information via SMS is part of an initiative to improve their services. He added it is expected to benefit some 630,000 consumers in Sabah and Labuan once they have updated their information on SESB’s Online Customer Service system at ocs.sesb.com.my.

Among other information that would be received by users via SMS are scheduled power disruption notices, emergency power disruption notices, bill arrears and payment deadlines as well as the latest information on SESB’s services. “We have taken the SMS method to convey information to users quickly as they can be contacted via text message wherever they are and they would not necessarily need internet access.
