Roma coach Paulo Fonseca is delighted for Diogo Jota over his success with Liverpool.

Fonseca worked with Jota when in charge of Pacos Ferreira and gave him his debut as a 17 year-old.

He recalled to Marca: "He is a very powerful player, very team-oriented and who brings a lot of depth and speed. I don't talk a lot with him, but he deserves what he's living. He made a lot of progress with Nuno at Wolves. His style is ideal for English football.

"I decided to bet on him at a time when we came from some games in which I didn't like our football very much. I remember that, in an away game against Arouca, I decided to start Jota and Andrézinho, two young men who seemed to have a lot of quality. We won the game and, from then on, he played almost always and became a fixture.

"Then everything happened very quickly: he, not long after, became a very important player for Paços. In his second year there, I went to Sporting de Braga and he continued with his upward trajectory. He is a humble boy, who works a lot."
