KUALA LUMPUR: The controversial remarks made by PAS MP Datuk Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh (pix) on the Bible will be looked into by Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun on Tuesday, reported FMT.

The issue was raised, Monday, by DAP MP Dr Kevin Yii who asked for updates on the comments by Nik Zawawi who had alleged in the Dewan Rakyat previously that the Bible has been corrupted or manipulated.

Yii said he had written a letter to the Speaker’s office on the statement by Pasir Puteh MP (Nik Zawawi) which he believed has caused uneasiness among the people.

Since Nik Zawawi is in the Dewan Rakyat, Yii said, it is a golden opportunity to settle the matter, while adding that the former should retract his statement and apologise to Malaysians.

Azhar replied that he would look into the matter tomorrow morning (Tuesday).

Nik Zawawi has refused to apologise despite coming under fire from Christian groups. In a previous report by Malaysiakini, Nik Zawawi also said that Christians should not be offended as his statement was “a fact”.
