LD raid: 300 boxes smuggled fags found in car boot

LAHAD DATU: The Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) seized 390 boxes of smuggled cigarettes from the boot of a Proton Wira at Kampung Puyut on Tuesday.

Esscom Commander DCP Datuk Ahmad Fuad Othman said a team of 12 security personnel from Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM), General Operation Force (GOF) and Police MPV spotted two individuals who were acting suspiciously and wandering near two vehicles in the area.

When the team approached them, the two individuals immediately escaped using a boat and sped off towards the mangrove areas.
