Manchester United and Liverpool have received a boost in the race to sign Dayot Upamecano.

The RB Leipzig defender is a key target for top European clubs in the coming summer.

He will have a buyout clause of £40 million, which means the 22-year-old is within range for most top teams.

According to Bild, Leipzig may even sell the player in January if a club offers his release clause or a higher fee.

Liverpool have an injury crisis in defence, while United want to improve in the position.

Bayern also want the player, but Bild claims they cannot afford to spend that much money on one player.

It may give the Premier League clubs a free run at Upamecano in the winter or summer window.
