Yadim aims to distribute 30,000 food baskets in Sabah

SANDAKAN: Yayasan Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) is aiming to distribute around 30,000 food baskets to residents affected by the enforcement of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) in Sabah.

Yadim Sabah Director Samin Ongki (pic) said to date, 10,000 residents have received the aid and the foundation aims to deliver the remaining 20,000 baskets by the end of this year.

“We hope the aid will help alleviate the burden of those who are affected, especially those who are less fortunate, sick or unemployed,” he told reporters when distributing 50 food baskets at the Sungai Manila State constituency, here, Sunday.

Samin said Yadim would also be distributing another 50 baskets at the Sungai Sibuga State constituency.

Under a separate programme, Umno Libaran division will be distributing 15,000 food baskets throughout the Libaran parliamentary constituency, which covers the Gum-Gum, Sungai Sibuga and Sungai Manila State constituencies.

Appointed Assemblyman Suhaimi Nasir said he, together with Sungai Sibuga Assemblyman Hamsan Awang Supain and Sungai Manila Assemblyman Mokran Ingkat would distribute the food baskets in stages, subject to the supplier’s ability to complete the order with the short period.

“Not only do we distribute the food baskets on humanitarian basis, but also to ensure that local residents’ movements are reduced in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
