Liverpool legend Graeme Souness has accused Mohamed Salah of DIVING to win his penalty in victory over West Ham.
With the Hammers a goal up, Salah tangled with Arthur Masuaku inside the box and went to the turf with referee Kevin Friend's decision soon rubber-stamped after a VAR check.
The intervention was not overruled because it was not considered to be a clear and obvious error from the officials.
The converted penalty set Liverpool on course for the positive result, although Souness believes the occasion was marred by what he fervently believes to have been simulation.
He told Sky Sports: "I don't give that if I'm a referee in the Premier League. I've seen Salah do this time and time again.
"This is totally an unnatural way to fall. Look, he doesn't actually kick him, the West Ham player makes contact with his ankle.
"I think it's careless and given an enormous invitation for Salah to throw himself to the ground.
"For me I think it's a really harsh penalty and that's coming from a Liverpool supporter."
