Kota Kinabalu: Malaysia, Sabah, Tawau and Sandakan all had record Covid-19 daily cases on Friday, data showed. The nation saw 1,755 new cases while Sabah 1,199, Tawau 467 and Sandakan 389. However, Kota Kinabalu registered the most daily cases among Sabah's districts at 532 on Oct 26.

Of the new Sabah cases, 663 were recorded in clusters, including 12 in a new cluster called Mampulut in Keningau, 363 close contacts, three severe acute respiratory infection or Sari cases and 170 other screenings. The Mampulut cluster registered 12 new cases, raising its total to 28 with 181 people found negative in the cluster started by a symptomatic screening case. A cluster in the Tawau Temporary Detention Centre called the PTS Tawau cluster registered 372 new cases, the most among Malaysia's clusters today, while the Sandakan Prison cluster had 184 new cases.

Both clusters were the main drivers in their respective districts’ latest daily caseloads, data from Sabah’s spokesman for the crisis, Datuk Masidi Manjun, indicated. Sabah saw only one Covid-19-related, brought-in-death in Sandakan, a 67-year-old Malaysian woman, who had had diabetic, hypertension and asthmatic conditions.
