The future of Fletcher Moss Rangers is in doubt.
The alumni to come through the club include Rashford, who joined the Fletcher Moss soccer school at the age of five, Danny Welbeck, Ravel Morrison, Jesse Lingard and Tyler Blackett.
"We've been trying to raise the funds for a while. It started five years ago. We wanted a long lease on Mersey Bank playing fields because we wanted to make it our home," chairman Dave Horrocks told the Manchester Evening News.
"We were asked to take the building on as an asset transfer. We were told we'd get it for a peppercorn rent, but the pitches we could only get on a long lease because the land is designated park land. Where we're situated they didn't want anybody to build any property out there.
"We don't have anybody to provide us with the £300,000 for the rebuild so it looks like we're going to end up walking away from there. We're a registered charity now. If we can't get this done in the way we want to do we're going to fold."
