Former Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago has announced his retirement.
Gago, now with Velez Sarsfield, has confirmed he is hanging up his boots.
The former Argentina international played for Real, Valencia and AS Roma in Europe before returning to Argentina to join Boca Juniors.
Gago signed for Velez last year and has surprised many after announcing his retirement after just a season in.
Velez are expected to offer the veteran an off-field role.
