TAWAU: At least 1,995 illegal immigrants have been chased off the district waters since the integrated “Op Cegah Pati (OCP) Daratan” was launched in April this year.

Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) Chief of Staff (Sea Operations), Admiral (M) Hamid Mohd Amin (pic), said they were intercepted while trying to sneak into here via illegal routes in waters off Mile 1 to Mile 5, Jalan Apas.

“Our order presently is to chase off or order them (illegals) to turn back to their respective countries, to prevent the spread of Covid-19 among illegal immigrants,” he said, Sunday.
