Liverpool great John Barnes says Manchester United need to publicly support Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Barnes believes United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward must stick with Solskjaer.
He says the constant questions surrounding the Norwegian has had a negative impact on players' performances and that giving Solskjaer time will build the former striker an authority he currently doesn't have over his squad.
"From Ole's first game, it's always been 'is he the man? Is he not the man?'," Barnes told Premier League Productions.
"It has to come to the stage, and as I said you look at experience, Sir Alex Ferguson's first four or five years at Man United.
"If you know you have the right man and believe he is the right man, stick with him.
"If Man United lose on Sunday or if they play well on Sunday, they shouldn't get carried away either way.
"They shouldn't all of a sudden if they win 4-0 then say 'right, we're back, we're going to win the league' and if they lose it shouldn't be 'let's get rid of Ole'."
