A knockout blow for Labuan: MP

LABUAN: Member of Parliament Datuk Rozman Isli (pic) said that Budget 2021 was a depressing one for the island as it offered nothing new to boost the domestic economy but instead scraps duty-free cigarettes and thereby rendering the island “partially duty-free”.

Rozman said: “Labuan is not ready for such a shock. It is akin to delivering a knockout blow.

“When you take something away that is valuable, you must offer something which is equally good to keep Labuan as an attractive regional tourism destination but this is not revealed in the budget and I would voice Labuan concerns in Parliament.”
