Former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott says they must not underestimate tonight's Carabao Cup opponents Arsenal.
Lescott also explained why the Gunners must persevere with manager Mikel Arteta despite their run of seven Premier League games without a win.
Quizzed on whether the Gunners stand a chance against City, Lescott - speaking to William Hill - said: "I think they do.
"When things are not going well in the league you kind of look at any other opportunity to refocus and galvanise some energy into the team and into performances. And obviously that can happen with Arsenal in terms of this cup competition.
"But I expect City to win. With the current the form of Arsenal, it doesn't look great at either end of the pitch. That's neither a good thing or a good time to be playing Man City, especially as they look more solid.
"They (Arsenal) need some stability, they need to be able to go through this bad time and be able to remember it because previous managers have changed a little sooner than they anticipated.
"Mikel came in, added to the success and now they're at back end of that sugar rush at the start and they're on the comedown.
"So it's important that they find a balance emotionally and find that this can happen now, there are a lot more competitive teams in the league than in previous years and you have to respect that."
