Tottenham want Dele Alli to fight for his place at the club in the coming months.
The English attacking midfielder is out of favour with Jose Mourinho, and is even struggling for game time in the Europa League.
Alli was the subject of a summer loan bid from Paris Saint-Germain, but the move did not happen. He has also been linked with Everton.
According to Sky Sports, he will not be loaned out in January either.
The 24-year-old has two goals in eight games this term, and has not started a single Premier League game since the opening weekend of the season.
Club sources indicate Alli is still valued at Tottenham, and the club hopes he will improve his levels to get back in Mourinho's good graces.
