Barcelona are monitoring the progress of Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.

Sport says Barca coach Ronald Koeman has asked for a striker and a centre-back -- Memphis Depay and Eric Garcia are his preferences -- but has also admitted it depends on finances.

Meanwhile, the sporting directorate continue to monitor the market and one of the players currently being tracked is Benfica striker Darwin Nuñez.

Barça have been following the Uruguay international since he signed for Almeria and have continued to do so since he joined Benfica for 24 million euros in the summer.

Sporting director Ramon Planes traveled to Lisbon this weekend and was in the Stadium of Light to see Benfica's win over Paços de Ferreira.

Nuñez is not a target for January or maybe even for next summer, but he's a player the club feel could have a big future on the game and want to keep tabs on him in the event of a possible move in 2022.
